Help with Toy Storage & Organization

I recently contributed an article to the South Shore Mama’s Blog that shares ideas for organization and storing children’s toys. As a mother and former kindergarten teacher I know first hand how overwhelming it can be to figure out where to put everything. I share my advice in this article.

Here’s an excerpt from the article:

“As a former kindergarten teacher, my classroom had an abundance of toys in September. However, I found the children were overwhelmed if all the toys and games were in the room. They would get too excited, open a game, then another, toss it aside etc. They wouldn’t appreciate what was there for them to use. Instead, I’d learned to put out just a few games and toys each month. The next month I would rotate things, I would put some of the initial toys away and bring some more out from the back room. They actually took much better care of them! This idea works well at home too. If you are uncertain as to how this can be effective, observe a child opening all the many Christmas gifts at once. Does he really stop and enjoy the present he just opened, or does he toss it aside gearing up to tear into the next present?—– My point exactly!”
